Madhuri Dixit
Madhuri has been a popular Indian actress who has gained fame for her role in the films Hum Aapke Haiin Koun as well as Beta Saajan. She began her career in the 1980s and came to prominence with her performance in the Tezaab film, in which she was a part of the cast with the veteran actor Anil Kapoor. In the next film, Dil, Aamir Khan appeared with her. The daughter of a middle class family in Mumbai she began learning to dance from a very young age. She started acting when an infant and was struggling for a few years as many of her early film projects were unsuccessful. Then she found her way to success and she became one of the top actresses within the Indian film business. She decided to take a break from her profession after her wedding before returning to the world of entertainment. In recent times, she was in a prominent role on the film Gulaab Gang. The film was about struggles faced by women in India. Dixit has been nominated 15 times in the Filmfare Awards. She won 8 of these. Padma Shri, the fourth-highest civilian prize given to civilians in India, was bestowed upon Dixit. She is also recognized for her charity work.
